To make a long story short, the Church of Atiel sent us on a scouting mission to the Kraken, an undead kraken which seems to house an army of skeletons. We head out and come to the Kraken's resting spot on the hill. While doing so, we discover the bloody body of El-el, who is badly wounded and the sole-surviving member of her adventuring party. We patch her up as best we can and add her to our party.
Now onto the Kraken itself. Filled with suicidal desire, Carlemagne decides to head into the kraken by himself to scout out the insides. He climbs up one of the limbs and descends into the eye socket of the beast, encountering some funky mushrooms and what seems to be a trapped ladder. Harvesting the mushrooms makes enough noise to attract the attention of a bunch of karate-trained skeletons, so Carlemagne flees out of the eye of the Kracken and down onto one of its tentacles. In the ensuing fight, Carlemagne is knocked unconscious but saved by a timely lasso from Pignose the barber, who proceeds to drag him all the way back to Fort Ashrock. Perhaps a weaker man would've fallen ill from this treatment, but Carlemagne is a powerful Frenchman and cannot be defeated by dirt.
Turns out, the mushrooms harvested by Carlemagne are calcium rich, which is exactly the type of ingredient El-el needs for her stew! She promises us some in exchange.
We also receive a small reward (250gp/person) from the church for scouting the Kraken and providing them with some much-needed recon on the undead in the area.
