The Meld of Minds

Paying the Joesky Tax for my last post. Riffing on these martial styles from Press the Beast.


Community is one way of escaping the falsehood of the self; drink deeply with your loved ones in the throes of a raging storm to form a Meld. Slay a member of your own Meld to sever the connection between all members. Members thus separated may not be a part of a Meld again. They have tasted perfection and been found lacking.

Layer I requires a meld of 6HD, each subsequent layer requires an order of magnitude more.

Layer I: Relinquishing the self induces a sensation of tranquility. Your body becomes Ours. Resign control of your character to the players at the table (including the referee; rock paper scissors over any disagreement). The character is immune to magical fear, mind control, and other mind-altering effects (illusion magic excepted). Communication between Melded parties is instant and transcends distance.

Layer II: See through that which was seen before. Creatures brought into the Meld may be experienced through as though they were you (and you are them). Any pain felt while looking through another creature deals damage to you as though you were them (and you are them). There is no limit on what can be connected to the Meld and a connection so created lasts forever and transcends distance.

Layer III: What is the self but a persistent nagging memory? See past events through creatures in the Meld as easily as present ones. Creatures brought into the Meld while living reside there even in death and can be consulted through deep meditation over the course of a day. Under auspicious signs and favorable winds, this technique may also be used to contact other Melds. Contact made in this way lasts forever and transcends distance.
